Center for Countering Disinformation reveals Russian fakes of December 9
Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation has published a compilation of Russian-produced fakes of December 9, Espreso TV reports
According to the center, Russia has launched 3 major deceptions on December 9.
Fake news: The spokesman of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko, says that German citizens are receiving letters from the Consulate General of Ukraine with an offer to join a foreign legion fighting in Ukraine for a monetary reward. The Ukrainian Consulate General has never sent such letters; the information in the letters is false.
Manipulation: Russian mass media reported that "the Western press received an implicit directive to declare the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy the "person of the year"... several foreign publications have already "honored" the Ukrainian leader with the title."
Fake news: Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported Russian troops had destroyed 13 HIMARSs and their analogues in just 2 days. In total, Russian forces have destroyed 44 such units, according to the Russian MoD, however this information is completely false.
