Belarus may create analogue of Russian PMC Wagner
Belarusian security company GuardService, the only one that can have firearms in the country, has multiplied the number of employees and is preparing to participate in hostilities
Deutsche Welle reported about this in its new article.
Journalists interviewed Valeriy Sahashchyk, the representative of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s United Transitional Cabinet, who is responsible for defense and national security. Sahashchyk told that the staff of Belarusian security company GuardService has been training for several months.
GuardService is the only organization that provides armed security services, which was allowed by the decree of Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the representative of Tsikhanouskaya's office, private security company has increased the number of employees several times and is preparing to participate in hostilities: "I know that officers of 5th special forces division (based in Majiina Horka, Minsk region - ed.) are training GuardService employees on their ground. In addition, the company took over the base of the former Dynamo special training center, and active drills are also taking place there."
Sahashchyk also suggests that the number of employees of GuardService could grow to more than a thousand people.
"The DW source believes that GuardService employees can be used in subversion and intelligence groups and further for assaults as mercenaries of Russian private military company (PMC) Wagner. Earlier Valeriy Sahashchyk stated that Vladimir Putin "made a significant investment" in GuardService and is creating a "Belarusian analogue of Wagner Group".
