Baku may start arm supplies to Ukraine if Russia keeps targeting Azerbaijani energy facilities
If Russia continues its aggressive policy toward Azerbaijan’s economic interests, official Baku will begin considering lifting the embargo on supplying Ukraine with weapons from its arsenal
On August 10, 2025, the military-focused outlet Caliber.az, close to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense and intelligence services, reported the information, citing its sources.
“Let's note that the Russian armed forces have begun systematically striking Azerbaijan’s energy facilities on Ukrainian territory. This situation forces Baku to take retaliatory measures. All of this will inevitably lead to a further deepening of the crisis in bilateral relations,” the statement said.
Russia targets Azerbaijan’s oil, gas supplies to Ukraine
On the night of August 7–8, 2025, Russian forces attacked an oil depot of the Azerbaijani company SOCAR in Ukraine’s Odesa region. Russia deployed five Shahed attack drones on the SOCAR depot, causing a fire and damaging a diesel pipeline. Four company employees were seriously injured. This was the second attack in recent weeks on Azerbaijan-linked facilities in Ukraine.
Before this, a gas distribution station near the village of Orlivka in the Reni city community, Odesa region, was attacked. This station is a key part of the Trans-Balkan pipeline, through which Azerbaijani gas began flowing to Ukraine for the first time on June 28.
