Avenger air defense system is already on combat duty in Ukraine – AFU Joint Forces Commander Nayev
Avenger anti-aircraft missile systems are already in Ukraine, they are on combat duty in the Northern operational zone
This was announced by the AFU Joint Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev.
As noted, Avenger is an air defense system that performs the task of detecting and shooting down means of air attack, such as Shahed drones or cruise missiles.
"They are able to provide short-range mobile air defense for civil infrastructure facilities, units of the Security and Defense Sector against cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, airplanes and helicopters at low altitudes," the message reads.
SAMs are equipped with a thermal sight, so they can work both during the day and at night. The vehicle is also armed with Stinger missiles and has a large-caliber Browning AN/M3 machine gun. The systems are operated by fighters trained in Germany.

In November 2022, the AFU Air Force command announced that the Ukrainian air defense system would be strengthened by the American Avenger systems.
