Artem Lahutenko, a correspondent for Espreso, reported from Lyman that Russia is persistently attempting to recapture Klishchiivka near Bakhmut, and the situation is also tense in the Lyman direction

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"The situation in the Bakhmut direction is very difficult. I understand that Avdiivka has been a focal point of discussion, but unfortunately, it is not the only point on the front in the Donetsk region. The enemy is amassing its forces there and trying to break through our defense. I had the opportunity to talk to the soldiers of the Rubizh Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine who have been fighting in Klishchiivka until recently. According to them, the offensive is not always the hardest part, and sometimes it is very difficult to defend. Klishchiivka, which was liberated a month ago, is now suffering from constant shelling by the enemy, who is trying to retake the town from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the National Guard are holding the line there, but they report that for every one of our shells, the enemy launches ten. It's a very difficult situation, so maybe we should pay attention not only to Avdiivka," the correspondent noted.

Artem Lahutenko added that, according to Ukrainian soldiers, there are literally 15 minutes of silence per day when Russian troops do not fire at their positions. Russian forces exhibit no restraint in their use of shells and ammunition, and there have been instances where Russian soldiers used anti-tank missiles to kill one soldier of Ukrainian defense.

"The situation at the Lyman front is also quite hot. We had a chance to talk to the soldiers of the 66th separate mechanized brigade, who told us that in early October, the Russians tried to launch a massive offensive against our positions. Ukrainian defenders repelled the attack, but it was difficult. They destroyed 25 pieces of enemy military equipment within 4 days. In particular, our soldiers share how the Russians' assaults take place, and it is very similar to zombie apocalypse movies, when the occupiers massively launch manpower in a frontal attack, mostly convicts, Storm-Z. And when we destroy them, the enemy fixes our positions, trying to go around the rear. This is how our enemy's actions look like now," Lahutenko summarized.

  • On October 25, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 Russian attacks in the Avdiivka direction of the Donetsk region over the past 24 hours.
  • On October 26, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russian troops are trying to surround Avdiivka, often using aircraft. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line and inflicting significant losses on them.
