Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that as of March 28, there are 4,390 Ukrainian orphans and children deprived of parental care in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories.
As Russia conceals any information about Ukrainian children, the Office of the President, the Prosecutor General, the Security Service and Foreign Intelligence, the National Police, the Ministry of Reintegration and other agencies are involved in the search.
"We are sending all the materials we have received to the International Criminal Court, which is also investigating these crimes. They have already collected enough evidence. We hope that our efforts and the pressure of the international community will speed up the process of returning our children," added Vereshchuk.
On March 21, 15 children deported by the Russian forces were returned to Ukraine, bringing the total number of children returned to Ukraine to 308.
On March 24, seven children from the Kherson region, who were forcibly deported by the Russian occupiers in October 2022, returned to Ukraine. This was made possible by volunteers.
Two children from the temporarily occupied territory - a 9-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy - were also reunited with their families.
The ceremony of honoring the memory of children who died as a result of Russian aggression took place in Kyiv on March 26 as part of the educational conference EdCamp Kyiv.
On March 26, the President of Ukraine met with actor Orlando Bloom and the UNICEF team to discuss humanitarian support and child protection.
