Air defense destroys 37 Russian cruise missiles and 29 UAVs over Ukraine
On the night of May 29, the enemy fired up to 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and about 35 Shahed missiles over Ukraine. Air defense managed to down 37 missiles and almost 30 drones
This is reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy launched a total of 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-based cruise missiles from nine Tu-95MS strategic aircraft located in the Caspian Sea area. They also conducted attacks from the northern and southern directions using Iranian Shahed-136/131 UAVs, with a total of approximately 35 strike drones.
It is important to note that air defense systems were active in the designated areas of responsibility for all air commands of the Ukrainian Air Force, namely the Center, East, South, and West commands. Through coordinated efforts with the air defense units of other branches of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, a total of 67 air targets were successfully destroyed. This includes:
37 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles
29 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs
1 operational-tactical level reconnaissance UAV
On the night of May 29, the enemy once again launched attacks on various regions of Ukraine. Explosions were reported in Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, and Poltava regions, with the activation of air defense measures. Incidents of damage occurred, including a damaged roof in the Podilsky District of Kyiv, residential buildings and infrastructure facilities in multiple districts of the Kyiv region (particularly in Brovary), and damage to port infrastructure in Odesa. Additionally, in the Lviv region, a wooden farm building and a tractor were destroyed by fire.
