U.S. resumes delivery of artillery shells, mobile rocket systems to Ukraine
The United States has resumed supplying Ukraine with artillery shells and mobile rocket systems after the Trump administration halted deliveries
Reuters reported the information.
According to the publication’s sources, the suspension of some arms deliveries last week was likely due to concerns that U.S. military stockpiles might be too low.
However, the U.S. has now resumed deliveries of 155mm artillery shells and high-precision GMLRS rockets just a few days after President Donald Trump’s administration halted shipments of some critically important weapons to Kyiv.
“The officials did not say how many weapons were being sent and whether the shipment was complete. It was also unclear why the latest shipments only included shells and artillery missiles and whether any decision had been made to resume shipments of other weapons,” the journalists add.
Background
On July 2, the United States suspended deliveries to Ukraine of some anti-aircraft missiles and precision munitions due to concerns about its own military equipment stockpiles.
The next day, it was reported that the U.S. Department of Defense continued to provide President Donald Trump with recommendations regarding military aid to Ukraine.
Later, media reported that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had unilaterally ordered the suspension of some types of weapons deliveries to Ukraine, even though analysis showed that such shipments did not threaten Washington’s combat readiness.
On July 8, Donald Trump announced that the United States would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine. The Pentagon announced additional military aid.
