Not only procurement, but strengthening production: Stoltenberg on expanding military aid to Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that the production of 40 thousand artillery shells per month has already been achieved
He said this during the press conference of the NATO Defense Ministers meeting broadcast on Espreso TV on June 13.
"Allies have provided Ukraine with an unprecedented level of assistance. We recognize the need to escalate our efforts for the future. Production of air defense systems and ammunition is on the rise, showcasing tangible outcomes from our collective endeavors. Specifically, we've already achieved a production rate of 40,000 for 155 mm artillery rounds per month, a significant accomplishment. Our goal is to further ramp up production capacity to 100,000 rounds by the end of next year," stated the NATO Secretary General.
He mentioned that there is also a rise in heavy weapons ammunition production.
"We are actively adding new components and making investments," he stated.
Stoltenberg added that similar efforts are underway in air defense production, with decisions in motion to construct new facilities, notably in Germany.
