According to the presidential website, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy will use these funds to buy domestic electrical equipment to be sent to Ukraine.

The decree highlights the strong bilateral relationship between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, recalling several key agreements based on friendship and partnership, including:

The Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership signed on March 16, 2000;

The Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership dated May 22, 2008;

The Joint Declaration by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine from January 14, 2022.

  • If Russia persists in targeting Azerbaijan’s economic interests, Baku may reconsider its arms embargo and begin supplying weapons to Ukraine, military outlet Caliber.az reported on August 10, citing sources close to Azerbaijan’s defense establishment.
