After NATO summit, Ukraine will be involved in making certain decisions – diplomat Ohryzko
After the NATO summit in July, the format of relations between Ukraine and the Alliance will change: instead of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, there will be a Council
Former Foreign Affairs Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko said this on Espreso TV.
“We still have the NATO summit in July, and I think that NATO simply cannot ignore the things that Ukraine demands. Both politically and practically. I think that after that we will move at a much faster pace than we have been moving so far. It is already on the surface that the format of NATO-Ukraine relations will change and there will be a NATO-Ukraine Council instead of the Commission. From the outside, this seems like a minor change, but in fact, it is already Ukraine's involvement in making certain decisions within the Alliance,” the former minister said.
According to Ohryzko, this is an important step forward.
“And politically, we must demand a very clear statement from the Alliance that Ukraine will become a NATO member immediately after our victory. And for that, NATO should provide us with everything we need. This is what I expect from the Alliance, unless some ostrich position of hiding its head in the sand prevails,” he said.
