Russia loses MLRS, 4 tanks and 860 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 7, 2024, amounted to:

• personnel – about 364,730 (+860)
• tanks ‒ 6,022 (+4)
• armored fighting vehicles ‒ 11.180 (+4)
• artillery systems – 8,653 (+36)
• MLRS – 951 (+1)
• air defense systems ‒ 637 (+4)
• aircraft – 329
• helicopters – 324
• UAV operational-tactical level – 6,811 (+24) 
• cruise missiles ‒ 1,786
• warships/boats ‒ 23
• submarines – 1
• vehicles and tank trucks – 11,523 (+45) 
• special equipment ‒ 1,327 (+10)

Frontline update: Russian troops launch unsuccessful assaults in 6 directions

According to the General Staff, near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region. 

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops did not conduct assault operations.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 2 Russia's attacks near Klishchiivka and Orikhovo-Vasylivka in the Donetsk region. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine continues to hold back the Russian invading forces, who keep trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 8 attacks near Novobakhmutivka,Stepove, Avdiivka and another 16 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region, over the past day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back Russian troops near Marinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where they repelled 9 Russian attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops did not conduct assault operations.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks west of Verbove, Robotyne and south of Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, Russian troops do not give up trying to drive Ukrainian units from their positions. Over the past day, Russia carried out 18 unsuccessful assault operations.

Russian troops attack Ukraine with drones: Ukrainian Armed Forces hit 23 Russian personnel concentrations

In total, Russia launched 9 missile strikes, 84 air strikes, and 50 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Yesterday, Russian occupying forces once again attacked Ukraine using 22 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Ukraine's air defense destroyed 19 attack drones.

Russia launched air strikes at 25 Ukrainian settlements. 

Over 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

At the same time, over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck 19 concentrations of Russian personnel and 1 anti-aircraft missile system.

Ukrainian missile troops hit 4 concentrations of Russian personnel, 2 control points, an ammunition depot, 3 artillery pieces, an air defense radar station and 4 air defense facilities.

• On the evening of Saturday, January 6, Russian troops launched attack UAVs at Ukraine. In Dnipro, the drones hit a house, causing no casualties.
