Zelenskyy: We need modern combat aircraft to protect all of Ukraine from Russian terror
After the Russian drone attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs modern combat aircraft to protect the entire territory of the state.
Zelenskyy said this in a video message.
"The day began with an attack by Iranian drones. Most of them were shot down. 11 out of 14. Unfortunately, there were also hits. Three employees of the State Emergency Service in Khmelnytskyi were injured, two were killed. My condolences to the families. The second drone hit just when the fire was being extinguished after the first one. That is why we need the aviation component of air defense - modern combat aircraft - to protect the entire territory of our country from Russian terror," Zelenskyy said.
The President expressed confidence that if foreign partners provide modern combat aircraft, Ukraine will be able to fully protect its airspace.
"Air defense is full-fledged when it is provided, inter alia, by aviation. Modern aviation. Our pilots, together with our anti-aircraft gunners, together with all the soldiers and specialists of our Air Force, are already doing a great job. But we will be able to fully protect the sky when the aviation taboo in relations with our partners is removed," Zelenskyy said.
- On the night of February 27, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with attack drones. The strike on Khmelnytskyi killed two rescuers and injured three others.
- Earlier, during a press conference, Zelenskyy announced training for Ukrainian pilots and the receipt of aircraft "with three more European countries."
