Zelenskyy to meet with Biden and speak at US congress
Presidents of the United States and Ukraine, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will meet on December 21 in Washington.
Zelenskyy confirmed the information on Twitter.
"On my way to the US to strengthen resilience and defense capabilities of Ukraine. In particular, President of the US and I will discuss cooperation between Ukraine and the US. I will also have a speech at the Congress and a number of bilateral meetings," he tweeted.
On the President's website, it is noted that on December 21 in Washington, Zelenskyy will meet with Biden to discuss comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, in particular, strengthening the stability and defense capabilities of Ukraine, supporting its sovereignty and restoring territorial integrity.
The Ukrainian President will also address the US Congress and hold a number of bilateral meetings.
The White House also confirmed Zelenskyy's visit to Washington. The presidents of the two countries discussed this visit when they spoke on the phone on December 11. Washington officially invited the Ukrainian president on December 14, and he officially accepted the invitation on December 16, and the visit was finally confirmed on December 18.
Biden plans to discuss with Zelenskyy further actions on the front line, opportunities and training that the United States and allies will continue to provide to Ukraine, sanctions and export controls. They will also talk about assistance in the economic and energy sectors.
For reference: since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not left Ukraine.
