Zelenskyy speaks at Arab League summit, meets with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud

On May 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud

Zelenskyy wrote about this on Telegram.

“I met with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. I thanked him for the invitation to participate in the Arab League summit as an honored guest,” the President of Ukraine wrote.

Zelenskyy spoke about the security situation in Ukraine, countering Russia's war, and elements of the Ukrainian peace formula.

The leader noted that the topic of bilateral relations was also raised during the meeting.

“I noted the successful participation of Saudi Arabia in the return of 10 foreign prisoners of war from Russian captivity. We are interested in continuing our joint efforts to free people. I am grateful to Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and for his principled position within international organizations,” Zelenskyy added.

The President of Ukraine took office at the Arab League summit.

Earlier, the Ukrainian leader reported on his visit to Saudi Arabia and plans for the Arab League summit.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the priority is to return all political prisoners of Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories, all prisoners and illegally deported persons, and to guarantee energy security for the next winter period.

At the same time, the President believes it is important to support the members of the Arab League summit on the peace formula, which should involve as many states as possible.

“Another priority is to protect the Muslim community of Ukraine. Mustafa Dzhemilev, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, is with us. Crimea was the first to suffer from the Russian occupation, and most of those who are being repressed in the occupied Crimea are Muslims,” Zelenskyy summarized.
