Zelenskyy comments on possibility of 'hybrid' tribunal for Russian crimes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on the possibility of a 'hybrid' tribunal for Russian crimes
He made this statement during a visit to the Netherlands and delivered a speech at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
“We all understand that despite this or that work, we will work on creating a special tribunal, because we have to condemn the crime of aggression as the most important, as the original crime, and here we have a large group of 35 countries at the moment. However, there are some opinions on how this tribunal should be structured. Our position is clear - we will work without any hybrid formats, we will work on a specific tribunal so that those responsible for their crimes are not untouchable. This is very important for us, and it is one of the fundamental issues,” he said.
In particular, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine knows where the 'hybrid peace' came from and remembers the Minsk agreements from early 2014.
“We know what it led to, and Ukraine does not want to agree to any hybrid peace, a hybrid tribunal as a development of this,” President Zelenskyy said.
