Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant may return to Energoatom, IAEA control, Russian forces may withdraw troops from its territory - Zaporizhzhia regional military administration
The situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which was seized by the Russian military is difficult, but there is hope that it will return to Energoatom NAEC control.
Oleksandr Starukh, the head of Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, told about this on the air of the telethon.
"Currently, the radiation background at the NPP meets the norm, but there remains a high risk of an accident due to the unpredictable actions of the occupiers, who continue to shell the plant with mortars. One of the facilities has been hit. The situation is tense. The sooner the territory of the ZNPP is demilitarized, the faster the security situation will stabilize. There is hope that the ZNPP will return to the control of Energoatom and the IAEA, and the occupiers will withdraw armed units from the territory of the nuclear plant and will observe international norms of warfare," he said.
Starukh also added that as a result of the night shelling in Energodar, there were 12 wounded, of which 10 were hospitalized, and two wounded are in a serious condition. Doctors are providing all possible assistance in Energodar, but the occupiers are not allowing people from the occupied territories to the regional hospital, where they can receive better treatment.
The military of the Russian Federation continues to be on the territory of the ZNPP. Local residents can already distinguish by the sound when they hear the "exit" of a projectile and literally in a few seconds the "arrival", which indicates that the enemy is shelling the station and the city from a short distance.
"The occupier must leave the ZNPP - this is the task of the IAEA," said Starukh.
