Zelenskyy expected to attend Notre Dame reopening ceremony - media
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to attend the reopening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on December 7
Аccording to reports from Le Monde and AFP. The event marks the completion of the cathedral’s restoration, with around 40 world leaders in attendance.
Zelenskyy is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, and possibly with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Other leaders confirmed to attend include German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Polish President Andrzej Duda, and others.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will also be in Paris for the event.
Fire at Notre Dame
Notre Dame Cathedral, one of Paris' most iconic landmarks, was built between 1163 and 1345.
On April 15, 2019, a devastating fire broke out at the cathedral. Two days later, it was announced that Notre Dame would be closed to visitors for six years due to the damage.
On November 8, 2024, for the first time in five years, all the bells of Notre Dame rang again, marking a major milestone in the cathedral’s recovery.
