"Zelenska buys sport car with US aid money": media fakes and manipulations on July 2
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a compilation of anti-Ukrainian narratives launched by the world media on July 2
Espreso.TV reports.
According to the Center Countering Disinformation, on July 2nd, one fake news and one instance of disinformation were reported worldwide.
Fake: American commentator Jackson Hinkle stated on X: "Ukrainian President Zelensky’s wife just bought a €4.4 MILLION Bugatti sports car with American taxpayer dollars."
Contradiction: In fact, this is a fake news spread by Russian resources to discredit the family of the Ukrainian president.
Disinformation: Former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said in an interview on the Danny Haiphong YouTube channel: "Unlike Russia, Zelenskyy is not sitting there going ‘How do I bring this under control?’ Zelenskyy is saying ‘How do I get more into my pockets? How do I make myself richer? How do I help my political allies get richer?’ This money that we sent to Ukraine ain't getting spent on what it's supposed to be."
Contradiction: With these statements, Ritter is trying to discredit President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine's leadership in general, as well as undermine the West's trust and military support.
- Earlier Russian propaganda launched a campaign to discredit Ukraine's state policy of developing nuclear energy, including the construction of new power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
