US attempts to preserve at least some subjectivity of Russia - political scientist

Political analyst Volodymyr Tsybulko believes that amid Russia's growing dependence on China, the United States is trying to preserve at least some kind of subjectivity of the Russian Federation

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

“The United States is well aware of modern Russia. They are trying to find a solution to balance the regime in Russia so that it does not completely dissolve in the Chinese regime. The US is trying to create conditions for the Russian regime to remain at least semi-subjective. Because China sees Russia as a tool of competition against the United States. In the United States, the idea is being cultivated that if Russia is pulled out of China's influence, Russia will sooner or later democratize. This is a mistake. Russia will not be able to democratize,” explained Tsybulko.

The political scientist explained why it will be difficult to democratize the Russian population.

“The Kremlin regime has managed to completely reformat its population in 30 years. This population does not think in democratic terms. The Russian population is still dependent on Soviet paternalism. Russians look at the state as the only regulator and provider. That is why it is simply impossible to democratize this population,” he added.

Ukraine’s cross-border incursion in Russia’s Kursk region

On August 6, the authorities of Russia's Kursk region stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly tried to break through the Russian border, but were pushed back. Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that "the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group retreated to its territory.”

On August 7, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin convened the Russian military leadership to discuss the situation in the Kursk region, which he called a "large-scale provocation." At the time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on the international community to "strongly condemn the Kyiv regime's criminal attacks on Russian territory."

On August 8, the Russian Guard announced that it had taken additional security measures at the Kursk NPP to protect a “particularly important facility.”The Washington Post wrote that Ukraine had taken control of the gas distribution station in Sudzha, Kursk region. Before that, the Russians claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had taken several border villages and part of the town of Sudzha. The VoxCheck analytical center, together with Suspilne TV, confirmed the destruction of a convoy of Russian equipment in the village of Oktyabrskoye, Rylsky district, Kursk region, Russia.

Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the actions in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation “are consistent with U.S. policy” and do not in any way cause an escalation.

On Friday, August 9, it was reported that terrorists from the Wagner PMC intend to fight for Russia in the Kursk region.

On August 10, President Zelenskyy called the operation in the Kursk region “pushing the war into the aggressor's territory.” At night of the same day, the authorities introduced a counterterrorism operation in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions of Russia.

On August 11, the Atesh guerrilla movement reported that the Russian 810th Brigade had been redeployed from the Pokrovsk direction (Donetsk region) to the Kursk region. Prior to that, the brigade had been operating in the Kherson region.
