U.S. election result will be crucial for Ukraine's NATO ambitions - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the outcome of the U.S. presidential election will be crucial to Ukraine's future and its ambitions for NATO membership
The president said this in an interview with the Financial Times.
The outlet noted that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris said she would consider Ukraine's membership in NATO in the future. At the same time, her opponent, Donald Trump, criticized U.S. military aid to Kyiv and said he would "resolve the conflict" as soon as he was elected.
Zelenskyy said he did not know what would be offered to Ukraine after the U.S. election, adding that the Ukrainian government is currently considering three different paths. One of them is to continue support, but with allies who are still “afraid of certain risks.”
"We see [two] other ways. Will it be more positive? Or less positive? Honestly, I don’t know. And this is very sensitive for our people," the president added.
The U.S. presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024.
