British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with US President Donald Trump on the evening of March 17, ahead of the White House's scheduled talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin today

This was reported by Sky News.

Starmer told Trump that Ukraine must be in the "strongest possible position" to secure a just and lasting peace. The British Prime Minister and the US President also discussed Russia’s war against Ukraine and Trump’s stated goal of ending it.

During the call, Starmer also briefed Trump on the coalition of the willing, which includes more than 30 countries expected to support Kyiv.

US President Donald Trump has said he plans to speak with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, March 18, about ending the war in Ukraine, as well as issues related to territories and power plants.
The White House press secretary, commenting on Trump’s upcoming call with Putin, said that we have never been closer to a peace agreement than we are now.
