Ukraine cannot fall out with Poland - diplomat
Andrii Deshchytsia, Ukrainian diplomat and politician, believes that Ukraine and Poland should not quarrel
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"We need to understand each other better and understand what the needs of Ukrainians and the needs of Poles are now. Of course, we cannot quarrel with Poland, because Poland remains and should remain our partner and to some extent our ally in this war. Not only Poland, but many others, but Poland plays a key role. Obviously, all these statements that have been made or events that have taken place, sometimes they just coincided in time, and it seems that relations have become quite strained. Of course, this is in comparison," he said.
The diplomat noted that this is not the first time in the history of Ukrainian-Polish relations. According to him, the countries will not have "equal" relations, but we need to work to find compromises.
"I have worked in Poland for over 8 years and I can say that during this period there were moments of euphoria and friendship, but there were also tensions, sometimes misunderstandings, and unwillingness to cooperate. That is why there will always be no such leveled relationship between the two countries. But nevertheless, we cannot allow relations between Ukraine and Poland to deteriorate, especially at a time when we are facing Russian aggression and an external enemy. Therefore, we need to understand each other, listen to each other and find common approaches to solving the problems that could satisfy both sides and not harm our defense capabilities," said Andrii Deshchytsia.
