Poland calls emergency UN meeting over Russian drone incursion

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday, September 11, that it had called for an emergency UN meeting. This announcement came after an unprecedented operation in which the European Union and NATO member Poland, with the support of NATO allies, shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace on Wednesday.

“(We are) drawing the world's attention to this unprecedented Russian drone attack on a member of the UN, EU, and NATO. I have appeared before the UN (Security) Council in the past, and it seems to me that our arguments have been convincing,” said Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to local radio.

Polish Armed Forces’ Operational Command put air defense systems and aviation on highest alert due to Russia’s night attack on Ukraine: Russian drones violated the country’s airspace.
