Man arrested in Slovenia after provocation during First Lady of Ukraine’s visit
During First Lady Olena Zelenska’s visit to the National and University Library in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on November 19, a man staged a provocation, shouting pro-Russian slogans
24UR reported the information.
Olena Zelenska was invited to Slovenia by the country's First Gentleman, Aleš Mušar.
The First Lady of Ukraine visited the National and University Library in Ljubljana to donate books by Ukrainian authors. However, an incident occurred outside the building when a man shouted in English, "Stop the war as soon as possible!"
The First Lady responded, "Alright, then stop it." As she walked away, the man shouted, "Russia will win, you know this."
According to the Ljubljana Police Department, officers at the scene identified the man.
“The incident did not threaten anyone. The police were informed about the protest and took certain operational measures in this regard,” the law enforcement officers said.
Even before Zelenska arrived in Slovenia, pro-Russian activists had called for a protest against her on social media near the Faculty of Social Sciences at Ljubljana University, where she was scheduled to speak. However, after the protest was announced, her speech was canceled.
The incident was also commented on by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, who emphasized that "such behavior is unacceptable in modern society."
- At the end of September, Olena Zelenska also visited Harvard University in the U.S. and donated books from the Vivat publishing house, damaged by a Russian strike, to the university's library.
