Macron will talk to Xi about ceasefire in Ukraine and Gaza during Olympics

He spoke about this in an interview with RMC and BFMTV. 

Macron said he would work on a ceasefire for the Olympic Games, which are being hosted by France this year, explaining that he was referring to Russia's war against Ukraine, Israel and Hamas, as well as the war in Sudan.

To do this, the French leader wants to involve many partners. In particular, Macron mentioned Chinese President Xi Jinping. 

The President of France mentioned that the leader of China would be visiting Paris in a few weeks and that he had asked him for help. He noted that in 2022, they had faced a similar task with the Winter Olympics hosted by China, suggesting that this could also be a diplomatic moment for peace.

• On March 16, Macron said he would propose that Russia cease hostilities in Ukraine and observe a "regime of silence" during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

• On March 28, Poland announced that it would join international efforts to help ensure security at the Olympic Games in France by sending troops.
