LRT reported the information.

“The president considers the recent incidents and disruptions at airports to be a hybrid attack against Lithuania, which must be responded to with both symmetrical and asymmetrical measures,” the Lithuanian president’s office said in a statement.

Nausėda urged the government to propose concrete responses in the coming days. Possible measures include a prolonged closure of the Lithuanian-Belarusian border and restrictions on transit traffic with Russia’s Kaliningrad region.

On Tuesday, the president will hold an interagency meeting to discuss these measures.

  • On October 24, Lithuania closed its two largest airports and suspended operations at border crossing points with Belarus after helium balloons drifted into its territory. This was the third such incident in the country within the past month.
