Latvia sends new military aid package to Ukraine
On Wednesday, September 11, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced a fresh military aid package for Ukraine, including armored personnel carriers
This was confirmed by Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal.
"I’m pleased to welcome Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa to Kyiv. I expressed my gratitude to the Latvian government and its people for their firm and consistent support for Ukraine. Particularly, for the 'Drone Coalition' initiative and the delivery of drones for our soldiers. During our meeting, Prime Minister Siliņa announced a new military aid package, which will include armored personnel carriers," Shmyhal said.
The two leaders also discussed deepening cooperation across sectors crucial for enhancing Ukraine's military strength on the battlefield. This includes collaboration between defense companies.
"Latvia continues to back sanctions against the aggressor and remains our steadfast ally in EU and NATO integration," the Ukrainian Prime Minister added.
Shmyhal also mentioned that Latvia is providing energy equipment and has plans to send solar panels for hospitals in Ukraine.
"I thanked them for their role in our country's recovery efforts, particularly in the Chernihiv region. Together with our allies, we will triumph and rebuild Ukraine," Shmyhal emphasized.
- On the first day of the Crimean Platform summit, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, her Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković, and Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil arrived in the Ukrainian capital.
