AFP reported the information.

The drone was seen “in the immediate vicinity of the airport around 7:30 p.m.” local time, a local police representative said.

Authorities reported that air traffic was halted for nearly an hour. It remains unclear who was operating the drone.

German authorities have repeatedly warned that drones pose a security threat, following a series of incursions near airports and military sites earlier this year.

  • On October 8, the German government passed a law that will allow police to shoot down drones.
