Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces of the German Bundestag Henning Otte warns against the Bundeswehr being overloaded with a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
"One thing must not happen: taking on more and more missions without strengthening the personnel base," the CDU politician said.
According to him, if Germany joins efforts to secure Ukraine with a brigade of about 5,000 soldiers, it would be a "huge challenge for the Bundeswehr."
- If a peace deal goes through, 10 European countries are ready to deploy their troops to Ukraine to provide security guarantees.
