Foreign intelligence calls on Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Belarus
On Tuesday, August 13, the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Belarus in the near future
Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service's press service reported the information.
"The Foreign Intelligence Service urges you to refrain from traveling to Belarus, which supports the country that unleashed armed aggression against Ukraine," the statement reads.
The Foreign Service informed about the risks that are smaller in scale compared to Russia, but can also threaten the safety and lives of Ukrainian citizens.
It is noted that Ukrainians can enter the territory of Belarus through other countries bordering Belarus, except Ukraine. Upon arrival, Ukrainian citizens will be subjected to filtration measures (questioning about the purpose of their arrival, personal data, political views, etc.)
Intelligence reports indicate that personal phones are being seized for detailed analysis. These devices are connected to specialized "forensic software" to extract information from messaging apps.
"Even deleted chats or individual messages are restored. At this stage, there is a risk of being detained, because the interpretation of the information received from the phone can be unpredictable and entail liability in the form of imprisonment," the Foreign Intelligence Service emphasized.
In addition, they noted that in the event of information or data transfer that is sensitive to the Belarusian authorities, there are cases of deportation from the country or charges that entail criminal liability under the article on extremism.
The Foreign Intelligence Service reported that there is a consular section of the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus, which Ukrainian citizens can contact. Phone number: +375 17 283 19 89.
They also called to remember that the rights of Ukrainians in Belarus can be violated at any time.
- The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has threatened Ukraine with the closure of the Ukrainian embassy in Minsk. Ukraine called on representatives of Belarus not to escalate anti-Ukrainian sentiment.
