DPRK gets what it wants from Russia: expert on missile program, ready-made technological solutions
North Korea receives ready-made missile technology from Russia
Defense Express military expert Oleh Katkov told Espreso TV.
"Without any official agreements, the DPRK has conducted quite successful tests of its new intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-17. Yesterday was another test. It was reported that the purpose was to test the so-called separate warheads. The ballistic missile carried not just one nuclear warhead, but several, with means to overcome missile defense. This is more than a sophisticated technology. The fact that they have already announced the test, in my opinion, directly indicates that they have received a ready-made technological solution from the Russian Federation," he said.
The Hwasong-17 missile itself came out of nowhere. More than four successful tests have already been conducted in a row, Katkov says: "That is, ready-made solutions were used, which were obviously obtained from Russia. If you look at this missile, some of the technological solutions for it are similar to those used in Soviet and Russian missiles, including the first stage engines.”
The professional community also believes that the Hwasong-17 uses a Russian solution, he noted.
"That is, the DPRK is already receiving from Russia what Russia can give it - ready-made technologies for missile weapons," Katkov added.
- On June 26, North Korea fired a ballistic missile that malfunctioned during flight shortly after launch. The United States and allies are concerned about the attempted show of force after the DPRK signed a military agreement with Russia.
