"Do not drop those bombs": Trump slams Israel for breaking truce with Iran too soon
U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, June 24, criticized Israel for breaking the ceasefire with Iran shortly after it was announced
CNN reported the remarks.
It’s noted that while flying from Washington to the NATO summit in the Netherlands, Trump took aim at both countries.
“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f**k they’re doing,” the U.S. president said.
But he was especially critical of Israel, which, he claimed, attacked Iran “as soon as we made the deal.”
“Israel, as soon as we made the deal they came out and they dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The biggest load that we’ve seen. I’m not happy with Israel. You know, when I say, ‘OK now you have 12 hours,’ you don’t go out to the first hour, just drop everything you have on, so I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either,” he said.
After the president left the White House aboard Marine One, Trump posted on Truth Social, calling on Israel to halt its strikes.
“ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” the post said.
Background
President Trump said that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full 12-hour ceasefire. According to him, it began on the morning of June 24.
Israel then officially confirmed the ceasefire in its war with Iran. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said Israel had not only achieved all its goals in the operation but exceeded them. It claimed to have eliminated an immediate existential dual threat in the nuclear field and in the field of ballistic missiles.
The statement also warned that if the ceasefire was broken, Israel would respond decisively.
Later, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Iran had violated the truce and ordered strikes on Tehran.
