Bessent announces visit of Ukrainian delegation to U.S. to finalize minerals deal
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a Ukrainian delegation will soon arrive in Washington to sign the minerals agreement
He made this statement in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to Bessent, the Ukrainian delegation is expected to arrive in the U.S. at the end of this week or early next week.
The secretary stated that the Ukrainians have hired advisers, and after the incident at the White House, which happened between February 20 and 28, they are now set to sign a four-page agreement outlining the parameters of the understanding. At the Treasury, they took this opportunity to move forward with a full agreement, the secretary said.
Bessent emphasized that the U.S. does not want to waste time because they see the agreement as "very important for the American people, for the Ukrainian people, and for the peace process."
He added that possibly within the next two weeks they can reach the finish line on this agreement and everything is ready on the US side.
