World Cup fencing event in France canceled due to participation of Russians and Belarusians
The French Fencing Federation (FFE) announces it is canceling Challenge Monal, an annual men's fencing competition, after the International Fencing Federation (FIE)’s decision to readmit Russian and Belarusian athletes

FFE made the announcement in its statement.
"Due to the inability to fulfill the requirements of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes, the French Fencing Federation regrets to announce the cancellation of Challenge Monal in 2023," the statement said.
The Challenge Monal tournament was scheduled to take place from May 19 to 21 in Saint-Maur-de-Fosse.
Earlier, the German Fencing Federation announced its refusal to host the women's foil World Cup for the same reason.

On March 10, the International Fencing Federation decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions.
