U.S. senators push resolution rejecting recognition of Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories — diplomat
Diplomat and head of the Center for Russian Studies, Volodymyr Ohryzko, stated that Ukraine will seek ways to regain its occupied territories
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“The Trump administration is not all of America. Currently, a group of senators—both Republicans and Democrats—is preparing a resolution that clearly states there can be no concessions regarding territory, and that the U.S. will never recognize the occupied Ukrainian territories as Russian.
This indicates that the politically adequate class understands that there will be life after Trump and sees a future. This political class exists in both parties, and the American people as well, continue to support Ukraine,” Ohryzko emphasized.
The diplomat added that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy very clearly and correctly stated that there are red lines we will not cross—namely, territorial concessions. And Ukraine will not recognize in any document, under any circumstances, that we are giving Russia the occupied territories. For Ukraine, these territories can only be considered temporarily occupied—nothing more.
“This means Ukraine will seek ways to reclaim these territories using available means. If that means diplomacy, then it will be used. If it proves ineffective, then the military route will be taken. So, there aren’t many options, but they do exist,” Ohryzko noted.
- On Monday, March 24, a meeting between U.S. and Russian delegations began in Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the talks is to achieve a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea.
