He made this statement in an interview with Fox News, according to Ukrinform.

They are taking action in Europe to displace Russian energy, maybe not as fast as we'd like. America stands ready today to displace all of the Russian gas that goes into Europe and all of the Russian refined products from oil as well,” Wright said.

He added that over six days he met with European leaders to assure them of the U.S. readiness to meet their countries’ energy needs.

“President Trump’s agenda is peace. And to get peace, we got to starve Putin,” Wright emphasized.

Commenting on the timeline for the European Union to fully stop importing Russian liquefied natural gas, the U.S. Energy Secretary stressed the need to accelerate the process.

“Gas that does not go to Europe and isn’t sold in Europe, they don’t have the ability to move it elsewhere, particularly the pipeline gas. It’s just lost revenue for Putin. It reduces his ability to wage war. So yes, our goal is to move much faster,” the U.S. official summarized.

  • U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly, stressed that NATO countries buying Russian oil and gas must stop purchasing energy supplies from Russia.
