Ukrainian army likely most developed in Europe – MEP Hübner
Member of the European Parliament Danuta Hübner stated that despite ongoing conflict, Ukraine continues to enhance its industrial and technological capabilities, possibly boasting one of Europe's most advanced military forces
She shared these insights in an interview with Espreso TV.
Responding to queries about potential changes following the US presidential election and the EU's necessity for a revamped security policy, especially in supporting Ukraine, Hübner emphasized that the Russian assault on Ukraine underscored Europe's unpreparedness to defend itself or Ukraine.
She stressed the EU's requirement for an alliance with the USA, labeling NATO as a "security recipe."
"Europe must bolster its industrial prowess. Ukraine serves as an exemplary case by advancing its production and technological capabilities amid conflict. You likely possess the most advanced military in Europe," remarked the MEP.
Hübner highlighted that the Commission has drafted strategies to enhance Europe's defense production capabilities, necessitating adequate funding, a challenge Europe faces in finding consensus.
"Nevertheless, we will address it with new European institutions, where Ukraine is likely to play an active role, given its technological advancement and openness to innovation. We aim to align European capabilities with NATO standards so that Ukraine can one day feel secure, integrated within NATO and not isolated," she added.
