'Ukraine will have to make concessions': Polish President Duda on peace deal with Russia
Polish President Andrzej Duda believes that a possible peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will require compromise, and that Kyiv will have to make concessions
He said this in an interview with Euronews.
According to the Polish leader, only the United States and its president, Donald Trump, can put an end to the war in Ukraine.
"Today, my conclusion is absolutely unequivocal: there is no one outside the United States who can stop (Russian President) Vladimir Putin... It is only this American pressure that can really bring this war to an end and help force peace that will not be comfortable for either side. But maybe that’s what will make it last" Duda stated.
He also emphasized that peace will require concessions from both sides.
"It has to be a compromise. I mean, de facto this peace should, in my personal opinion, come down to the fact that neither side will be able to say that it won this war, because each side in some sense will have to step down... Ukraine will also have to step down in some sense, because that's what will probably happen. To what extent? It is difficult for me to answer at this stage," Duda added.

- On April 24, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the situation for Ukraine is dire. According to him, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that Kyiv will not recognize the occupation of Crimea is harmful for negotiations with the Russians.
- The Financial Times later reported that the Trump administration had offered Kyiv a plan to end the war, which includes abandoning NATO membership and recognizing Crimea as part of Russia. These proposals have drawn sharp criticism from the EU.
