The First Deputy Chairman of Ukraine's Parliament, Oleksandr Korniienko, thinks it's achievable for the country to finish its EU negotiations by 2028

He stated this in an interview with European Pravda.

When asked how many years it would take to adopt the necessary legislation within the framework of the accession process, Korniienko noted that this would become clearer after the government approves the national adaptation program, which is currently in progress.

"But from what is known now, the program will involve a minimum of two to three years of very active work. That is, 2028, which the European Commission mentions, seems quite realistic," he emphasized.

At the same time, Korniienko noted that for this to happen, Ukraine needs to "do its homework" and draw conclusions from the stages it has already passed.

  • The European Commission's report states that Ukraine is demonstrating progress in implementing key reforms on its path to EU accession, despite the war with Russia.
