Trump made the statement during a briefing at the White House.

He was informed about Russia’s attack on Ukraine during the night of July 31.

“Russia… I think what they’re doing is disgusting. I think it’s disgusting. This is Biden’s war, it’s not my war, but I’ve said that if I get in, I’ll try and get the thing stopped. But I think what Russia is doing is very sad,” the U.S. president said in response.

He once again repeated that the war must end, as both sides are suffering losses.

“They’re also losing people now in cities and towns, because Putin is hitting them with rockets. I think it’s disgraceful,” Trump added.

The American leader said that the United States will impose sanctions on Russia, although he expressed doubt about whether sanctions can restrain Russia.

Trump also stated that his special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Russia after visiting Israel.

“Yes, he’s going to Israel, and then to Russia—believe it or not,” he said.

  • On April 25, a three-hour meeting took place in Moscow between Kremlin head Vladimir Putin and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. At the time, the Russian leader claimed that Russia was supposedly ready for negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions.
