Trump's Peace Council and Zelenskyy
Zelenskyy's invitation to Trump's so-called Peace Council, where he is supposed to sit at the same table with Putin and Lukashenko is toxic for Ukraine by definition
No advantages. No impact on the war. But an ideal platform to erase the difference between victim and aggressor.
"This "council" has no mandate, has no instruments, and makes no sense — except one. It is a commercial construction for collecting money from those who believe that access to Trump can be bought."
But even if so, the Russian "contribution" for Trump will always be more expensive than the Ukrainian one. Therefore, Ukraine's participation is a loss even before the start.
The logical tactic is to drag out time and hide behind the collective European position. The first move has already been made by Macron. He not only refused but publicly went head-on, and after Trump's threats to impose 200% tariffs on French wine, Macron began talking about how U.S. competition aims to subordinate Europe, and that such an approach must be resisted. In parallel, he signaled openness to Chinese investments. Beijing, I am convinced, is simply delighted.
The more European leaders publicly refuse this adventure, the calmer and more firmly Ukraine will be able to say "no."
