Trump warns he may send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if Putin refuses to end war
On Monday, October 13, U.S. President Donald Trump said he might provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles if Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not stop the war
Trump made the statement to reporters aboard his plane en route to Israel, according to Fox News.
According to the U.S. president, he may speak with Vladimir Putin and warn him about the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
“I might talk to him. I could say, ‘If this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks. The Tomahawk is an incredible weapon, a very offensive weapon, and honestly, Russia does not need that. I may tell him that if the war is not settled, we may very well. We may not, but we may do it. I think it’s appropriate to bring up. I want to see the war settled,’” Trump said.
At the same time, he added that during his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he said that supplying Tomahawks would mark a new level of escalation.
“They need Patriots very badly. They’d like to have Tomahawks. That’s a step up. We talked about that, so we’ll see. I might speak to Russia about that, in all fairness. I told that to President Zelenskyy because Tomahawks are a new step of aggression,” Trump warned.
- On October 12, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with Donald Trump about protecting energy facilities from Russian air attacks and the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
