The United States has informed the United Nations that President Trump is pushing for a swift resolution to the war in Ukraine, setting a firm deadline for peace talks

U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed that a deal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine must be reached by August 8, according to a statement delivered to the U.N. Security Council on Thursday. 

Senior U.S. diplomat John Kelley addressed the 15-member council, emphasizing the urgency of negotiations: 

“Both Russia and Ukraine must negotiate a ceasefire and durable peace. It is time to make a deal. President Trump has made clear this must be done by August 8. The United States is prepared to implement additional measures to secure peace.” 

The U.S. signaled its readiness to take further steps if necessary, underscoring Washington’s commitment to ending the conflict within the set timeframe.
