Trump has idea that will never happen — Manhattan University professor
Trump hoped to detach Russia from China and engage it in the fight against the Chinese communist regime
Manhattan University Professor Igor Eisenberg said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“Trump constantly changes his position and continues to do so. That is, he behaves very unpredictably in everything. I am not sure he has a clear plan. Perhaps he had a plan—more likely, to meet with Putin, as this was his dream. He believed he could negotiate with Putin on various issues, including dividing the world into spheres of influence,” Eisenberg suggested.
According to the Manhattan University professor, Trump, like many ordinary Republicans, imagined that it would be possible to detach Russia from China and make Russia an ally in the fight against communist China.
“For many years, I heard this from Republicans, especially when I lived in the southern U.S., where many people support such ideas and where the majority voted for Trump. That is, there are people who back this position. But it is a completely unrealistic idea that will never come to life because separating Russia from China is simply impossible. They have a common interest—weakening the West, particularly the U.S.,” Eisenberg explained.
The Manhattan University professor added that Trump hoped Putin would agree to his ceasefire proposal.
“I think he discussed this with Putin during their conversation. We know that at least one conversation took place, possibly more. But Putin did not agree, at least not yet. And so, Trump’s plan to meet with Putin as soon as possible was put on hold. Over the past week or two, Trump has not even mentioned such a meeting.
Whereas earlier, he repeated it in almost every interview. He said he had great relations with Putin and that they would meet soon. Now, he no longer talks about it, because it seems that Putin refused when Trump proposed a ceasefire. This was evident even from what Trump posted on social media,” Eisenberg noted.
- U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American representatives are already heading to Russia for a meeting regarding the ceasefire.
