Xinhua reported.

The agency described the conversation as “pragmatic, positive and constructive.” According to Xi, Washington and Beijing can achieve “mutual success and shared prosperity beneficial to both countries and the entire world.”

“The American side should refrain from imposing unilateral restrictive measures in trade,” Xinhua quoted Xi as saying. He also added that the Chinese people “will never forget the valuable support provided by the United States and other countries of the anti-fascist coalition in the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese invaders.”

What Trump said after the dialogue

“I just completed a very productive call with President Xi of China. We made progress on many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal,” Trump wrote.

The U.S. president added he would meet Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea. He also plans to visit China in early 2026, while Xi “will come to the United States at an appropriate time.”

“The call was a very good one, we will be speaking again by phone, appreciate the TikTok approval, and both look forward to meeting at APEC!” Trump concluded.

Earlier during the day, The Guardian, citing the White House, noted that the leaders discussed TikTok to preserve its operation in the United States. Trade relations amid mutual tariffs were also on the agenda.

  • The last phone conversation between Trump and Xi took place in June.
  • Earlier, it was reported that Trump’s administration had reached a deal with Beijing allowing Chinese company ByteDance to keep TikTok running in the U.S.
