Security agreements Ukraine has signed with 27 countries include support for joining NATO
Hanna Shelest, Director of the Security Studies Program at the Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism and Editor-in-Chief of UA: Ukraine Analytica, stresses the importance of not overlooking the 27 agreements Ukraine has signed with various countries
She shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The 27 agreements Ukraine has signed with various countries should not be underestimated. These agreements address numerous critical aspects, including the joint production of weapons, the provision of arms to Ukraine, training programs, and financial assistance. In essence, they encompass significant opportunities for military-industrial cooperation and broader security collaboration," Shelest stated.
According to her, these agreements have two key limitations. First, they do not obligate signatory countries to provide Ukraine with military or other forms of protection, except for the supply of weapons and intelligence. Second, each agreement explicitly affirms support for Ukraine's membership in NATO.
"Therefore, we should not view these agreements in isolation from the overarching declaration that NATO remains the primary security guarantor. Within this framework, certain mechanisms can be employed to safeguard Ukraine in the event of future attacks," Shelest explained.
