Russia "dragging their feet" on peace deal with Ukraine — Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump believes that Russia wants to "see an end" to the war in Ukraine and sign a peace agreement, but they are likely "dragging their feet"
Trump made this statement in an interview with Newsmax.
"I don't know. I mean, I'll let you know at a certain point. But I think that Russia wants to see an end to it, but it could be they're dragging their feet," said the U.S. president.
He also believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to end the war in Ukraine "at this point."
"But no, I think Russia would like to see it end, and I think [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy would like to see it end at this point," Trump said.
Additionally, he mentioned that both the Ukrainian and Russian armies are losing an average of 2,500 soldiers each week.
"I see the pictures of the battlefields; I'd rather not even see them. We have arms and legs and heads all over the field. The weaponry is ridiculous. It's a big drone deal now. … And I just want to see it stop," Trump added.
- Earlier, Donald Trump stated that the U.S. is considering lifting some sanctions on Russia in exchange for a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
