NATO to hold first meeting with U.S. Secretary of State, Ukraine to participate
On Thursday, April 3, a meeting of NATO foreign ministers will begin in Brussels, with Trump administration Secretary of State Marco Rubio attending for the first time
NATO headquarters informed European Pravda about their expectations for this meeting.
NATO emphasized that the talks in Brussels will focus on "preparation for our summit in The Hague." The NATO summit will take place on June 24-25.
An important element will be the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the ministerial event in Brussels, where he will present the expectations of the Trump administration. "This is already the second meeting with the new U.S. administration," reminded an Alliance representative who spoke with journalists about the plans for the ministerial meeting.
"It is expected that they will exchange views on how to maintain the momentum of increasing defense spending and how to restore defense industrial production. We also expect them to discuss our continued support for Ukraine," said a NATO representative, who provided comments to European Pravda on the condition of anonymity.
The NATO headquarters also emphasized that during the meeting of foreign ministers, there will be a session of the NATO-Ukraine Council (NUC) with the participation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. The NUC meeting is expected to include all ministers, including Secretary of State Rubio.
