He made this statement during a joint press conference with Xi Jinping in China.

Macron emphasized that the war in Ukraine poses a serious threat to European security and the international order, which is based "on the rule of law and the effectiveness of our common charter."

According to him, France and China should strengthen cooperation to ensure lasting and stable peace.

"I hope that China will join our call for cooperation and our efforts to achieve at least a ceasefire in the form of a moratorium on strikes targeting critical infrastructure as soon as possible. This is key for the upcoming winter, as today civilian infrastructure, and particularly energy infrastructure, remains under attack from Russia," the French leader stressed.

The French president also emphasized the need to build a strong and just peace in Ukraine so that the war finally ends and does not recur.

During the press conference, Xi Jinping confirmed that China supports a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that Beijing hopes to reach a "fair and binding agreement acceptable to all parties."
